Yuvan Shanker Raja is the youngest son of film composer Ilaiyaraaja,the younger brother of music director,Karthik Raja and playback singer cum music director Bhavatharini.Yuvan once confessed that his brother Karthik Raja is more talented than him but not get a successful break into the music business,since he didn't ger a good team to work with.
Noted film director and film composer Gangai Amaran and film producer late RD Bhaskar are his uncles and their sons Venkat Prabhu Premji Amaram and Parthy Bhaskar,who are working in the tamil film industry as well are his cousins .Moreover Yuvan Shanker Raja and hoth the sons of Gangai Amaran do often associate with each other and hace often worked together the results of which have been very successful.VenkatPrabhu's films have has all musical score by Yuvan,while Premji had assisted him composing music some years ,before becoming an independint composer aside form the fact that both have sung several songs under the direction of Yuvan Shankar Raja.
Besides scoring film music and soundtracks,he also produces music albums from time to time .In his vey early years when he was not familiar to most of the peoples he made the Tamil pop albumThe Blast,that contained 12 tracks ,he is working on his secong album the rights of which has been acquired by Sony BMG and is ye to be titled;It is reportedly a bilingual album produced in goth Tamil and Hindi and is due to release.He also announced his first live performance at a show in january 2009
